Wilma Barnes, 68, has been identified by the Baltimore Police Department as the person who died at the hospital after being hit by a driver who sped away, according to investigators.
Police say that shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, officers were called to the 3500 block of Reistertown Road in Baltimore to investigate reports of a pedestrian who was down in the roadway.
According to officials, the woman was treated at the scene and rush to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The initial investigation found that Barnes was walking in the area when she was struck by an unidentified black vehicle, which left the scene of the crash.
